anyadeva tadviditādatho aviditādadhi | iti śuśruma pūrveṣāṃ ye nastadvyācacakṣire
Brahman is not "the unknown" — that would still place it in the category of objects. It is the very third category: not known, not unknown, but that which makes both knowing and not-knowing possible. The verse opens space beyond the knowledge/ignorance binary.
Meaning
It is other than the known and also above the unknown. So we have heard from the ancients who explained it to us.
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya
Science & Modern Application
शोध संदर्भResearch context · not scriptureComparative Research Noteशोध टिप्पणी
A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
