yadvācānabhyuditaṃ yena vāgabhyudyate | tadeva brahma tvaṃ viddhi nedaṃ yadidamupāsate
The first of five parallel verses. Brahman is the power behind speech, not its content. Whatever you worship as Brahman is already a limited object; the real Brahman is what enables the worship to happen. A radical correction to all idolatry.
Meaning
That which speech does not express, but which expresses speech itself — know that alone as Brahman, not this which people worship as such.
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya
Science & Modern Application
शोध संदर्भResearch context · not scriptureComparative Research Noteशोध टिप्पणी
A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
