yacchrotreṇa na śṛṇoti yena śrotramidaṃ śrutam | tadeva brahma tvaṃ viddhi nedaṃ yadidamupāsate
Sound exists, hearing happens — but the hearer is not itself a sound. Brahman is the silent ground in which all sounds appear. The deepest listening is not for any sound but for the listener.
Meaning
That which the ear does not hear, but by which this ear is heard (known) — know that alone as Brahman, not this which people worship as such.
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya
Science & Modern Application
शोध संदर्भResearch context · not scriptureComparative Research Noteशोध टिप्पणी
A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
