tadetaditi manyante'nirdeśyaṃ paramaṃ sukham | kathaṃ nu tadvijānīyāṃ kimu bhāti vibhāti vā
The boy returns with the deepest question of perception. How does the supreme make itself known? Is it the shiner or is something shone-on?
Meaning
(Naciketas asks:) They think of it as "this is that" — the indescribable supreme bliss. How shall I know it? Does it shine, or does it shine forth?
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya
Science & Modern Application

A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
