andhaṃ tamaḥ praviśanti ye'vidyāmupāsate | tato bhūya iva te tamo ya u vidyāyāṃ ratāḥ
Ritual without understanding is blindness; book-knowledge without practice is a deeper blindness. The verse anticipates the modern danger of the over-educated person who knows everything in theory and nothing in life.
Meaning
Those who worship ignorance enter blinding darkness. Those who delight only in knowledge enter into darkness deeper still.
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya
Science & Modern Application
शोध संदर्भResearch context · not scriptureComparative Research Noteशोध टिप्पणी
A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
