tatrāparā ṛgvedo yajurvedaḥ sāmavedo'tharvavedaḥ śikṣā kalpo vyākaraṇaṃ niruktaṃ chando jyotiṣamiti | atha parā yayā tadakṣaramadhigamyate
Strikingly, even the Vedas are classified as 'lower knowledge.' This is not denigration but clarification: the Vedas prepare the mind and point toward the Absolute, but the realization itself is direct, not propositional.
Meaning
Of these, the lower is: the Ṛg, Yajur, Sāma, Atharva Vedas; phonetics, ritual code, grammar, etymology, metrics, and astronomy. The higher is that by which the Imperishable is known.
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya

A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
