parīkṣya lokān karmacitān brāhmaṇo nirvedamāyānnāstyakṛtaḥ kṛtena | tadvijñānārthaṃ sa gurumevābhigacchet samitpāṇiḥ śrotriyaṃ brahmaniṣṭham
One of the most decisive verses in all Upanishadic literature. After examining what works can achieve, the seeker sees: the unmade cannot be made by doing. He must approach a teacher who is both śrotriya (scripturally learned) and brahma-niṣṭha (established in Brahman) — both qualifications, not one.
Meaning
Having examined the worlds built by works, a brāhmaṇa attains dispassion: 'The uncreated cannot be reached by what is made.' For that knowledge, fuel in hand, he must approach a teacher — learned in scripture and rooted in Brahman.
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya
Science & Modern Application
शोध संदर्भResearch context · not scriptureComparative Research Noteशोध टिप्पणी
Mentorship Research:
A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
