prāṇo hyeṣa yaḥ sarvabhūtairvibhāti vijānanvidvān bhavate nātivādī | ātmakrīḍa ātmaratiḥ kriyāvāneṣa brahmavidāṃ variṣṭhaḥ
The portrait of the knower. Three features: humble (na ativādī — not a boaster), self-rejoicing (ātma-krīḍa, ātma-rati), and active (kriyāvān). The realized one is not idle but plays from the Self.
Meaning
This is the prāṇa that shines in all beings. Knowing him, the wise one becomes no boaster. Playing in the Self, delighting in the Self, performing actions — he is the foremost among the knowers of Brahman.
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya
Science & Modern Application
शोध संदर्भResearch context · not scriptureComparative Research Noteशोध टिप्पणी
Self-determination Theory:
A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
