māso vai prajāpatistasya kṛṣṇapakṣa eva rayiḥ śuklaḥ prāṇastasmādete ṛṣayaḥ śukla iṣṭaṃ kurvantītara itarasmin
The polarity descends another level. Even the month is divided into the dark (matter) and bright (life) halves. Different communities perform rites in different fortnights, attuned to different aspects of the rhythm.
Meaning
The month is Prajāpati; its dark fortnight is Rayi, its bright fortnight is Prāṇa. Therefore these seers perform rites in the bright fortnight; others perform in the other.
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya

A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
