na vittena tarpaṇīyo manuṣyo lapsyāmahe vittamadrākṣma cettvā | jīviṣyāmo yāvadīśiṣyasi tvaṃ varastu me varaṇīyaḥ sa eva
Three blistering refutations. (1) Wealth cannot satisfy. (2) Even mortal life is in your hands. (3) The boon I asked for stands. Iron resolve.
Meaning
'A man cannot be satisfied by wealth. Shall I get wealth merely because I have seen you? I will live only as long as you let me. The boon I want is the one already named.'
Direct literal rendering preserving Sanskrit philosophical terminology.
Vyakhya
Science & Modern Application

A modern parallel offered for reflection. It is not part of the scripture, and it has not been checked against the original sources it may allude to.
